SURVIVAL ZONE INTERNATIONAL (SZI) ACCRA
ACTIVITY REPORT FOR FIRST HALF YEAR OF OPERATION.
JAN – JUNE 2006

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Survival Zone International (SZI) is a human activity centered NGO in Ghana. It has registered with the Department of Social Welfare as DSW 2922 and the Registrar Companies as G1750 under the companies code of 1963 (Act 179).

This charity was established in January 2006 with a vision to work in concept with state and multilateral or multinational agencies in the areas of the provisions of Shelter for the deprived or stricken, evacuation from disaster areas, relief activities and education for the under privileged.

The mission of  is to advocate and place at the disposal of development and relief agencies our expertise, to facilitate the realisation of human development centered and relief goals.



2.0 OBJECTIVES OF THIS REPORT

  • To meet regulatory requirements

  • To evaluate the projects impact on target communities

  • To further evaluate financial commitment needed and so far expended to support donors

  • To solicit funding from new donors to support existing projects.

3.0 PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES

  • Donation of food, clothing and other relief items to the inmates of the Weija Leprosarium in Accra- Ghana

  • Donation of relief items to the Mampong Akuapem School for the deaf.

  • Donation of building materials to stricken basic schools in the Volta Region.

  • Donation and improvement of school infrastructure and learning materials for the Amanokrom JSS in Eastern Region

 

 

3.1 DONATION TO WEIJA LEPROSARIUM

SZI, following an appeal to philanthropists, public-spirited persons and organizations by the Weija leprosarium, took it upon itself to follow up with a donation of relief items including food packages and clothing.
SZI is further working with centre of Hope- and NGO to consolidate their assistance programme to the leprosarium to make the donations very regular and short paced.

3.2 DONATION TO MAMPONG SEC-TECH SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

 

SZI, during the period under review, donated to the Mampong Secondary School for the deaf. The items were made up of food items, clothing and other miscellaneous items.


3.3 DONATION TO BASIC SCHOOLS IN THE VOLTA REGION

 

Donations were made to the Sokode Etoe primary and JSS. They were presented with building hardware and materials to improve upon school infrastructure.

Similarly, the Tsito L/A primary were presented with logistics to improve sanitation and environmental conditions within the school and its environs.

 

 

3.4 ASSISTANCE TO AMANOKROM JSS

 

Survival Zone International also supported the Amanokrom JSS in the areas of infrastructure improvement and development.
They were also assisted with improved learning materials and aids.



CONCLUSION

As per level of funding we did our best to offer assistance to the needy by improving education and offering relief items to other needy persons.

We are soliciting further funding to enable us conduct a survey on the socio- economic level and need of rural communities in the western and central regions of Ghana. Based on the report, we intend approaching donors and also utilize personal resources to meet most of their pressing needs.

We intend expanding to cover the whole country in the near future and will solicit funding in that regard.
